Between 1998 and 2002, longliners represented the shipyard’s primary market segment and core area of expertise. During this period, the yard delivered five longliner vessels. Since then, the longline fishing industry has undergone significant development. Modern vessels are larger, more energy-efficient, and far more automated than their predecessors. At the same time, an increased focus on quality, working environment, and sustainability has made the longline fleet one of the most advanced and future-oriented sectors of the Norwegian fishing industry.

With this contract, we build on the expertise developed during our earlier longliner projects, combining our experience and understanding of longline fishing with modern technology and innovative solutions tailored to meet the operational requirements of the vessel owner.

The vessel’s layout and equipment will be designed to ensure an efficient workflow throughout the entire value chain, from fishing operations and catch handling to processing, freezing, and storage. The objective is to combine operational efficiency with careful handling of the catch, ensuring that product quality is maintained all the way to delivery.

Norwegian equipment suppliers will provide key systems for the vessel, including fishing equipment, processing and freezing systems, propulsion solutions, electrical installations, and automation systems. Together with the vessel design developed by Skipsteknisk and the outfitting work carried out by Larsnes Mek. Verksted, the project will generate significant ripple effects and create business opportunities across a broad spectrum of the Norwegian maritime supplier industry.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2029.
