As a key part of the project, the vessel was lengthened amidships by 4.0 metres, from its original length of 32.32 metres to a total of 36.32 metres. The new midship section, manufactured by Bauta, involved the installation of approximately 35.5 tonnes of steel. In addition, 2.1 tonnes of aluminium have been fitted, including a new storm walkway on the port side and a new funnel with newly constructed exhaust piping extending from the main deck upwards. All silencers have also been replaced.
Cargo capacity has been substantially improved through the installation of two new RSW cargo tanks, increasing the vessel’s total cargo volume to 440 m³. In connection with the new tanks, new bilge piping has been installed, while the existing cargo handling system has been further enhanced with a new SeaFlow vacuum compressor and modified dewatering and distribution chutes to optimize catch handling. The vessel has also been equipped with a new PG RSW pump with a capacity of 460 m³, as well as a new 315 kW water-cooled propulsion motor supplied by Stadt AS.
The deck equipment has also been modernized. The combination winches have been modified and adjusted, and a new SeaQuest deck crane with a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 2.0 tonnes has been installed along with the necessary foundations.
The lengthening required extensive modifications to the vessel’s technical installations. All electrical work and new cabling were delivered by Hareid Group. As part of the upgrade, new recessed LED lighting has been installed throughout the vessel, both indoors and outdoors, contributing to a modern, energy-efficient, and functional working environment on board.
The crew accommodation and common areas have also undergone substantial improvements. New flooring has been installed in the mess room, galley, and wardrobe, while the galley has been fitted with new interior solutions supplied by Mare Safety. The mess room and lounge have been upgraded with new furniture from VAD, and additional onboard furnishings have been supplied by Rovde Møbel og Design. The vessel has also received a new provision cooling room supplied by Copra. As part of the lengthening project, the port-side wardrobe has been expanded to provide more space and greater comfort for the crew.
As the final stage of the project, the vessel was surface-treated by PCS Construction, with paint supplied by Westing AS. This provides the vessel with a modern finish while also enhancing protection and extending service life.
This comprehensive modernization ensures that Harto is well prepared for future operations, offering increased capacity, improved functionality, and major upgrades to both its technical systems and onboard working and living conditions.
